| Purim on a hill top.
On a hill top behind Mullumbimby in the Byron Shire overlooking Mount Jerusalem, some 400 people from the shire included tens that came from Gold Coast and Brisbane, gathered on the grass and in the shinning sun to celebrate Purim. The day included Megillah reading, DJ Ofer, arts and crafts for children and adults as well as a costume (adloyada) parade and competition which was run by Tamara Pesach together with Ofer Pesach. Oren Tabakhov related the purim story to the children in his own unique style. The lavish food was prepared by Karni Nakash, her mother, Einav Cohen and Bluma Serebyanski. The function was held on the property of David and Karni Nakash, to whom we are most grateful. The event was coordinated primarily by Bluma, Tamara & Karni. Many others helped out in different ways, together making the day a great celebration. Late night purim for adults only in Surfers On Shabbat/Saturday night after 9:30pm some 80, adults including many college students, came to the Chabad Centre in Surfers Paradise to hear the megillah and party away the night in purim style which included a resident stand up comedian.
